It is official from today the 8th of September the former Valentine Eleebana Junior Cricket Club will now be known as the Valentine Eleebana Cricket Club. Whilst for some this name change is no big deal for others it marks a breakaway from the original club name. The VECC was formed by a few fathers from an idea in late 2000 and the clubs first junior teams were known as the Valentine Eleebana Juniors. In 2004 the clubs first senior team was entered into the Newcastle City & Suburban Cricket Competition under the name of Valentine Eleebana Juniors, the team was successful winning the minor premiership in its first season.. This name was changed the following season to the Valentine Eleebana Cricket Club. In 2008 the club introduced its honorary player award with one part of that award being the presentation of a baggy blue hat. For historical purposes this hat will continue to carry the original club logo and team name the Valentine Eleebana Junior Cricket Club.
In 2007 the clubs new logo was designed by David Jackson from Winding Creek Photography & Art. The significance of the logo is the new designed hat and old club logo being separated by a cricket ball, essentially the logo represents new direction for the club whilst remembering where it originally came from. An interesting day in the history of the club.
