8th of September an important date in VECC club history

It is official from today the 8th of September the former Valentine Eleebana Junior Cricket Club will now be known as the Valentine Eleebana Cricket Club. Whilst for some this name change is no big deal for others it marks a breakaway from the original club name. The VECC was formed by a few fathers from an idea in late 2000 and the clubs first junior teams were known as the Valentine Eleebana Juniors. In 2004 the clubs first senior team was entered into the Newcastle City & Suburban Cricket Competition under the name of Valentine Eleebana Juniors, the team was successful winning the minor premiership in its first season.. This name was changed the following season to the Valentine Eleebana Cricket Club. In 2008 the club introduced its honorary player award with one part of that award being the presentation of a baggy blue hat. For historical purposes this hat will continue to carry the original club logo and team name the Valentine Eleebana Junior Cricket Club.
In 2007 the clubs new logo was designed by David Jackson from Winding Creek Photography & Art. The significance of the logo is the new designed hat and old club logo being separated by a cricket ball, essentially the logo represents new direction for the club whilst remembering where it originally came from. An interesting day in the history of the club.
Will Tanya Take Up The Challenge?

One Of The More Historical Places To Have A Game

Although Port Arthur in Tasmania has an interesting history dating back to the convicts imagine a game on these grounds. Well, what a surprise in the midst of all of this Australian history is a place for its greatest game. The concrete pitch was not built by convicts but is nested in one of the more interesting areas of this country. I was tempted to roll the arm over but instead I just sat and listened to what could have been, well worth a visit.
The People You Meet At The MCG

Seeking inspiration for the up and coming season I encountered a couple of well known people at the MCG last week. The Don was basking in the warm sun on a Melbourne afternoon (do they ever really get son in Melbourne?). To be in the company of such a great man was truly inspirational, now, what was that advice he gave me again for the start of the season?
VECC President finally gets to see the MCG

Well, it took 43 years but I finally got here granted the Victorian game of Aussie Rules was the flavor of the day it truly was a magnificent site to see both from the air and on the ground. I intend to post some photographs of the North Melbourne v Port Adelaide on the Winding Creek Blog but at the moment for any true sports fan here is a chance to view one of the great stadiums of the world the mighty MCG.

Update on the Tanya Challenge

I sadly missed a call from KOFM this morning due to work commitments. On Monday morning the 8th of September David, Tanya & Kylie are going to interview VECC Club President David Jackson at 07.15am. Lets all get on board with this, we know as members of the VECC Tanya's son will have a fantastic time at our club. If she accepts we will keep you informed how both player and mother go throughout the season (let's not forget dad as well).
Whilst the challenge is with Tanya let's not forget our main goal is to treat her son to the best season playing the best game.
Until Monday morning, look forward to the comments and hopefully the challenge.
